It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of light, it was the season of darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair.”
Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities
What a year it has been … and we are talking about 2021! We won’t even delve into last year and all it brought with it. Everyone is suffering from Covid fatigue and we are hoping the next “family meeting” sees an easing of restrictions but, in the mean time, we’ve decided to be the light at the end of your tunnel.
We have put together some great value specials together to entice you to escape reality. We used lockdown to refresh our décor, get our tropical garden looking lush (see the breathtaking photo above taken at sunrise from the Milkwood balcony) and also to partner with amazing new suppliers, so you may be in for a few pleasant surprises on your next stay.
R4250 per couple
For those who need the rest AND the relaxation, this is the best of both worlds. One night’s accommodation including breakfast and a romantic turndown, plus an Express Package each which consists of a Back Massage, Dermalogica ProSkin 30 Facial and Express Pedicure.
R4500 per couple
We have made it easy for you to spoil (and impress) your loved one. Spend a night with us on a bed and breakfast basis and we’ll give you an early check in and romantic turndown. But wait, that’s not all! We will treat you each to a Full Body Massage and a three course dinner prepared for you by a private chef.
Want to spend an extra night or two with either package? We will give it you at only R2000 per double room per night.
As with most things, Ts&Cs apply
February is the month of love and Teremok is the perfect spot to escape to for a romantic night away or to pop the question. We even host proposals if you aren’t staying with us and just want a beautiful location. To this end, we’ve partnered with the equally meticulous Jacqui Warren of The Perfect Proposal. PS: this snap was taken before a proposal in our garden earlier this month.

We’re loving local!
Last year Covid reminded us that we needed to support other small and family-run businesses. And by local, we mean we have looked within our city and, where it hasn’t been possible, within KZN.
At the very least we’ve procured items from independent businesses. We have removed all SAB beers and instead you will find craft beers from Durban-based, That Brewing Co. At our honesty bar (once Bheki gives the go-ahead) you will also find Musgrave Gin and we are waiting for a KZN Midlands distillery to launch their brandy.
The KZN Midlands has been an amazing source of suppliers – we now stock coffee from Blue Bird Roastery (all beans are ethically sourced and roasted in small batches), milk from Farm2You, eggs from Finchley Farm and wine from Abingdon Estate. Our fruit and veg are from small producers and a guest’s homemade Juluka chilli sauce now features on our breakfast menus.
We’ll feature one of these incredible, inspirational local businesses in each newsletter. Or, when you visit, please ask us the story behind our special suppliers.
Most of our guests know that the local troops of Vervet monkeys evoke equal amounts of annoyance and adoration from us.
They have broken into rooms and stolen medication, they have a penchant for our homemade muffins and smash the pots afterwards and now they have taken to stealing our fabulous new coffee beans that for sale in reception.
But, we recently had an experience that melted our hearts.
We got to witness one giving birth with all the other females nearby and taking turns to rub her back. We found out afterwards that it’s a very rare thing to see.
If you visit now, you’ll see lots of moms with babes in arms and they really are too cute for words (as you will see from this photo taken in the big Milkwood tree outside the lounge balcony).
