We are firmly committed to supporting local, independent suppliers and producers, and in every newsletter we will feature one “homegrown hero”.
We have recently switched over to getting our beans from Bluebird Coffee Roastery and you can get your fix at breakfast, at our coffee station or even buy beans to take away. Bluebird Coffee Roastery supplies an exclusive selection of delicious, generously traded specialty coffees.
We love that owner Dario Scilipoti passionately believes in personally sourcing amazing beans, paying farmers fair prices and roasting in small batches. “I believe that everyday, in our individual lives and careers, we make decisions which either harm or help,” says Dario. “In every step I take in growing our company, I aim to make the often hard (expensive) but correct decisions which are better for people, environment, quality and then profit.
That is why we buy the coffees we do in the way that we do. Generously, with line of sight to the farms and producers and with the intention of building long term, meaningful relationships.”
The roastery and coffee shop is based at the quirky Old Mushroom Farm in Karkloof (KZN Midlands), so pay them a visit when you’re in the area for bespoke caffeine experience.
